I don’t think we’re in the jewelry district anymore.If you were to take a stroll down Benefit Street from the Main Green—turning left as if headed to the Fish Company—you would see a highway ramp off to your right. As it stands, you could walk right past the orange safety cones and find yourself on an abandoned six-lane highway—the remnants of Interstate 195. Before the end of this year, the Department of Transportation will take down that highway ramp and demolish the roadbed across the river. Within the next year or two, a new pedestrian lane will appear in its place.
